"Thunderbolt" MTG Avacyn Restored
Some quick B/W studies and I tried some z-brush into my process for the final image .
The good thing about doing the z-brush model is that I did not have to struggle so much with the overlaps and the perspective of the head's angle, but since I did not finish sculpting the legs I struggled with that (lol). All in all this was a really quick turnaround (for me anyway). 1.5 hours sculpting and 3 hours trying to decide on what shape that lightning should be .. aargh lol
MTG card info can be found here

Swamp Thing
Inspired by the man thing / swamp thing , I first saw him when I was 4 I think. He was one of the first comic book characters I remember that I liked.... Incredible hulk and the X-men were also introduced to me at that time.
Here is the final. I decided to clear the background to minimize the clutter and keep the focus on the creature.

Santa versus Frosty
Turf war between Frosty and Santa. A bit morbid, I know .. but I am sure Santa had to take someone out to rule the North Pole.. and Frosty wasn't going down without a fight !
Merry Christmas!

G.P. San Diego sketches
The event went well, there were I think 1,200 in attendance, I heard one guy say but that was small compared to the other times, but that was still a lot of people for me. Thanks Tim for inviting me to the event :) . People really liked the think twice card and it seemed like it was getting a lot of playing time. I finally got to hang out with Doug and Jason, their tables were right beside mine, its been a couple of years since I have seen those guys. I did not get to meet all the other artists coz we were soo busy signing cards. I did get to meet Mark Tedin, Steve Argyle, and got to talk a little bit with Alex Horley and RK Post, they were cool guys.
I will update with pictures and some sketches I did for peoples play mats tonight
Some card alterations with a familiar theme :)
more sketches and alterations...
I was able to take some photos of the other artist sketches, will post that soon... I gotta finish some work right now :P

MTG GRAND-PRIX SAN DIEGO
Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be at the San Diego Grand Prix on Nov 12-13 .
This is my second Grand Prix that I will be attending. The first one was in Oakland and I was the only artist that was able to make it. It was my fist ever signing event. I was not prepared for it. There were soo many people. Anyway I can't wait to hang out with my good friend Doug Alexander Gregory (amazing artist!) and meet all the fans. I used to be addicted to this game back when I was younger and to see that energy in these events is great.
Here is the link to the event site
I will be selling my artist proofs and maybe some posters. I still have some Maelstrom Pulse and Tez the seeker artist proofs available. (very limited quantity)

Tikbalang in Spectrum 18 and a Chesley Award Finalist
Hey I just wanted to let you guys know that my Tikbalang image made it into Spectrum 18. I would like to thank the judges and, Cathy and Arnie Fenner for including my pieces in the book. I had always looked at this book for inspiration when I was younger and to finally be in it is an honor.
This image was also a finalist for the Chesley Award. (The Chesleys are given by the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists each year) but unfortunately my image did not win, but I am happy that it even got nominated! Thanks to everyone that voted. link
I also wanted to let you know that prints are available and can be purchased at Gallery Nucleus. Just click on the image to go to the page.
Think Twice (Innistrad set)
The title of this card is "Think Twice"
I also added a couple of studies before I did the final painting. I wish I kept the same hand gestures in my monochromatic study.

the UBER monster
This is UBER my boxer-pitbull mix. I love this dog. He has passed due to cancer, he was 9 years old. These photos were taken a year before he left us. The vet told us that he would not live for more than 1 month and we should put him down now, but we couldn't just put him down that day, he is not just a dog to us he is family member, and man I can't believe that I cried so much that day for a dog. I am glad that my wife did not just believe that we should just call it quits for him. So she researched on holistic approach instead of the toxic chemotherapy, and he lived for 8 more months. I wish we knew about the benefits of feeding raw organic meat/chicken instead of dog food years ago. What's interesting is, ever since we started feeding the dogs this way they had no fleas and their coats are better, isn't that weird? We spend a bit more on food but we don't spend it on flea chemicals which was $100 for each dog and we have 4.
So now I spend a lot more time with my family , I don't want to just blink my eyes and all of a sudden my kids are in college or my parents are dead. I try to make sure I have my priorities in the right order. This is what UBER taught me.
